Terms of Service

Last drafted: July 4, 2026.

This is an internal draft, not a published legal agreement. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Because this app is designed to hold real information about children's disabilities, school support needs, and a government benefits application, a qualified lawyer must review this document - and it must be revised as needed - before it is presented to any real parent or used for an actual app-store submission. Do not treat this draft as a binding agreement until that review is complete.

What this app is

Parent Inclusion Navigator helps parents and guardians in Alberta organize school-support and Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) information: a home dashboard, an Alberta Resource Navigator with cited process information, a meeting-prep tool, an FSCD application checklist, a conversation-drafting tool, and an evidence log with export and delete controls. Our Privacy Policy describes what information the app collects and how it is protected.

Not legal or medical advice

The app is not a substitute for a lawyer, advocate, doctor, or other qualified professional. The Resource Navigator presents plain-language, cited information about Alberta's inclusive- education and FSCD processes with a "what this means for you" framing - it is not directive advice, and it does not tell you what to do in your specific situation. The FSCD checklist tool helps you assemble and track your own application; it does not determine whether your child is eligible for FSCD, and it does not submit anything to Alberta on your behalf - eligibility is Alberta's decision, and you submit your own application yourself, outside the app. Board-specific content in the app may not reflect your specific school board's actual policy; confirm directly with your school board before relying on it.

Who can use this app

  • This app is for parents and guardians (adults) managing matters for their own child. It is not designed or intended for direct use by a child, and there is no child account type.
  • Each account currently supports one child's information. There is no cross-family data sharing, organizational/multi-user account, or way to grant another adult access to your account within the app.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter - the app records what you tell it (for example, an FSCD eligibility outcome you were told by Alberta); it does not independently verify or determine any of it.

Your account and password

You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for anything that happens through your account. Because your case data is encrypted using a key derived from your password, and that key is never stored anywhere in a form we (or anyone else) could use to recover it, there is no password-reset or account-recovery mechanism - if you forget your password, your existing case data cannot be recovered by us or by you, and your only option is to create a new account. See the Privacy Policy for the full explanation. You can change your password at any time while logged in from Settings, and you can view and revoke access from any device signed into your account.

Exporting, deleting, and closing your account

You can export a copy of your data or permanently delete it at any time from Settings, and deletion is designed to remove your data everywhere it exists - not only the device in your hand. Closing your account removes your registered devices and login credentials in addition to your child's case data. Sharing an exported copy of your data (for example, through your device's own share/save screen) is your own action and is outside the app's control once shared.

What you agree not to do

  • Use the app for a child other than your own without appropriate parental/guardian authority.
  • Attempt to access another account or another family's data, or attempt to bypass the app's authentication, encryption, or account-security controls.
  • Use the app in a way that violates applicable law.

Availability, warranties, and limitation of liability

The app is provided on an "as available" basis. This section is a placeholder for the disclaimer-of-warranties and limitation-of-liability language a lawyer will need to draft or approve for this specific product - given the sensitivity of the information involved (a child's disability-support and government benefits information), this is exactly the kind of clause that should not be copied from a generic template without real legal judgment about what liability allocation is appropriate here.

Not yet decided - flagged for legal review, not invented here

  • The legal entity offering this app, a contact address, and the governing law/jurisdiction for these terms.
  • Pricing/subscription terms, if any apply at launch.
  • A dispute-resolution or arbitration clause, if one is wanted.
  • Formal termination-for-cause and suspension conditions beyond the account-closure flow described above.

These are left open deliberately rather than filled with plausible-sounding boilerplate, and must be resolved as part of the required lawyer review before publication.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change after a real version is published, we will update the date at the top of this page.

Formal review status

A formal, independent privacy and security review of this app's account, sync, and encryption design is a required, release-blocking step recorded in this project's internal risk register and QA release checklist, and has not yet been completed. No public release or real app-store submission is expected before that review is complete.
